Description of Monument
A white marble doorpost.
Description of Text
A cross has been carefully sculpted (H. 0.31), and the
surface cut away around it; it is very similar to that on the facing
door-post (117), but not so well centred.
Text ii is arranged around the oval recessed area surrounding it; text
i is some way above, text iii some way below. There are several other,
less substantial, crosses inscribed on this door-post.
Description of Letters
i: a cross monogram, H. 0.17. ii:
letters: 0.025-0.04.
iii: letters: 0.015-0.025; lightly cut and partially
erased.
Date
Fifth-sixth century or later (lettering, location).
i was printed back to front by
Reinach. ii was correctly transcribed by Fellows and Texier,
but Reinach omitted Κυρίου,
whence Grégoire restored Ανάληψης Πέτρου
iii. Reinach gave only 1. I; he and Grégoire read at
the end Τροφίμῳ.
