238. Flavius Photius gives a gameboard
Description
- Monument:
A plain white marble statue base shaft (0.54 × 1.25 × 0.55). The right side was hollowed out, to create a recessed panel.
- Text:
A text of the early third century, concerning the statue which the base originally supported, was cut on the face (88.9).
Within the recessed panel on the right side is a board, type 3Rows.4 (0.43 × 0.97) carefully cut, circles 0.03, central rosettes in circle 0.10. The text was inscribed on the lower edge.
- Letters:
Irregular letters, ave 0.03; scroll and letter above line for abbreviations.
- Date:
Late fifth/sixth century (titulature).
