Apparatus

l.2, Ζήνων is a name of the right length and common at Aphrodisias.

l. 4, ΜΕΝΟΙΙ: the Ν has no diagonal stroke.

l.6 perhaps ἐπεμελήσατο.

Translation:

[The council and the] People honoured [?Zenon] the son of Attalos [the son of ? . . .]the son of Demeas [a man who came] of a distinguished family. His son [name ?saw to it] that the monument was erected [who had also] in part [paid for ] the fountain.

Commentary:

The family of the honorand is not at present otherwise known. Presumably his son took responsibility for erecting the statue, which was to be placed near a fountain, which the honorand had established with some financial contribution from the son. Which of the several known fountains is nmmeant is not clear.
