Text:
Inscribed on the tabella (H. 0.195 × W. 0.345) from which a previous inscription has been erased. Line 1 on the upper moulding, lines 2 ff. inscribed within the panel; lines 3-6, 9-12 impinge on the right moulding. Very worn.
Letters:
Irregular and poorly formed, 0.01-0.015; cursive alpha, omega and mu used sporadically, square sigma.
Date:
Late third/early fourth century (titles).

Translation:

The sarcophagus, and the area surrounding this memorial, is (the property of) M. Aurelius Leontius Auchenios, teacher of friends, and M. Aurelius Papaios Polychronios, steward of Papias, curialis.

Commentary:

The principal indication of date is the title of Papias' master; see discussion at ala2004 IX.11.
