Apparatus

l. 1, first two letters damaged; Α is clearly legible but Υ is not.

l. 14, the final Υ is tall.

Translation:

Imperator Caesar Marcus Aurelius Severus Antoninus Pius Augustus, Britannicus Maximus. The People (put up his statue) from the bequest of Flavius Attalos. Marcus Aurelius Chresimos, son of Apollonios, undertook (care of the erection).

Commentary:

This text must have accompanied a statue of Caracalla, whose name included the element Britannicus from 210 A.D.

Another statue of Julia Domna (12.642=MAMA 452) which is a pair to this, was found in the same area; a further statue of Caracalla (12.326=MAMA 451) was set up from the same bequest.

The epimelete is not otherwise known at present.
